Mission Statement

The Center for Computational Biology encompasses research, service, and education. It is a center that nurtures and catalyzes collaborative research involving bioinformatics and computational biology. The center supports source code installation and development in many languages for various bioinformatic analysis and biological computation. The center aims to assist and train researchers to carry out those computations.

History

The center was established in 2013 by the Department of Animal Biology (later renamed Biomedical Sciences) under the leadership of Dr Avadhani. Dr Kashina initiated the efforts. Drs Bale, Kaufman, Lengner, and Wang contributed ideas of what kind of computational biology and bioinformatics the department needs.
